Within the Lloyd Elsmore Park many different types of sport and recreation are catered for, as well as passive areas. The network of walking paths between the swimming pools and the Howick Historical village have been planted with avenues of Pohutukawa trees. Now 44 years after the parks opening in 1981 some trees are reaching a decent size. In late November through December the Pohutukawa bloom and make a very pleasant walk or jog through the walkway avenues. For those wanting a shorter pleasant walk from the clubhouse, you could walk a star pattern around this area and back to the clubhouse for a distance of 2.5kms. Enjoy the blooms and the tuis in spring, and then for a short period when the pathways are covered in red kiwi snow
